Wow, I didn't update this page for a long time. Now I have an occasion - Grokking the GIMP by Carey Bunks ! Check't out. Also, I switched to development version, current version is 1.19. No binaries.

Current version is 1.0.2 !!!

I have Linux binaries gimp-1.0.2.linux.tgz of current development version with all patches applied and plugins updated . (Last updated Oct 15, 1998)
Note :
I used to configure gimp with --prefix=/usr/local/gimp, so everything will go to /usr/local/gimp directory. Just make a symbolic link to make it visible ( e.g. ln -s /usr/local/gimp/bin/gimp /usr/local/bin/gimp). Add /usr/local/gimp/lib to /etc/ld.so.config to make sure ld.so knows gimp shared libraries and run ldconfig.

In case you don't have graphical shared libraries installed I prepared archive with all graphical libraries required to run gimp (Linux). Untar it in directory visible for ld.so ( I have them in /usr/local/lib). Also, you need gtk libraries installed ! I have linux binaries gtk+-1.0.6.linux.tgz.

Archive contains gtk binaries, so you need only libraries for libjpeg, libtiff, libpng and libz.

I made an archive of Type1 cyrillic fonts in koi-8r, you can download it here.

I wrote a one-second perl script to compile plugin, it's not perfect but works for me :=)

I mirrored some interesting pages about Gimp to save bandwidth, those pages are marked by local
