Supernova 2004S in MCG -5-16-21

sn04s_i.jpg Discovered by the Perth Astronomical Research Group.   This one is some distance from the nucleus of it's host galaxy.   It is a very bright type Ia considering its host galaxy.   We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icon generated from Roland Santallo's image.  This supernova is in the Constellation Canis Major.
