Scientific Applications on Linux (SAL) website has been developed and maintained solely on a voluntary basis since its inception in 1995. The company and individuals involved in this projects have spent a huge amount of resources to support this project. Just like many people devoted themselves to Linux and Free Software, we are glad to see SAL successfully contributes its part to this community. Today not only do we have 19 mirror sites around the world, the traffic on each site also is increasing steadly and rapidly. Differentiating itself from other popular Linux related websites, SAL provides a directory service of Linux applications for scientists, researchers, engineers, and more importantly, serious Linux users.
However, we have come to the point that voluntary work simply cannot meet the explosive growth of Linux application market and user demands. We decided to seek external help by launching a banner advertising campaign in June, 1998. By contacting Linux software and hardware vendors, we have received a very positive response from almost everyone of them. We'd like to say thank you for your support on behalf of our SAL users. Your support is important and SAL belongs to people who use, support and work with Linux! Thank you, SAL sponsors!Team SAL
