OpenNLP
The OpenNLP project defines a set of Java interfaces and implements some basic infrastructure for Natural Language Processing (NLP) components. There are currently many NLP systems and programs available, but those which are freely available are generally too tightly integrated, limited to very specific tasks, or toyish in their capabilities to easily incorporate into other systems. OpenNLP would attempt to forge a standard which will facilitate code re-use in NLP (as such standards have done for other areas), and help focus and propel NLP developers to cooperate in building robust, highly functional open source NLP components.
