CAEL

CAEL - Cellular Automata Engine (Life). CAEL is a program for running simulations of what would happen if the world was made of a two-dimensional grid, with each grid point ("cell") being either on or off, and the only rules centering on how many cells surrounding a given cell are on. The program is fairly flexible in terms of rule sets - they can be switched while running, and new ones can be added.
