HADLOP

HADLOP (Hardware Description Language for Optical Processing) is a simulation system for parallel digital optoelectronic and optical architectures. It was designed in order to verify the logical behavior of algorithms working on 2-dimensional data planes. These planes are manipulated by optical or optoelectronic devices which are connected optically (e.g. Smart Pixel- and SEED-Systems).
Optical and optoelectronic devices are represented by so called architecture primitives. HADLOP provides a versatile set of efficient primitives making it possible to emulate all kind of real existing devices. Some freely programmable primitives allow to specify their logical behavior on a quite abstract level - similar to programming languages. Therefore the simulation system has also become suitable for simulations of general parallel computer systems.
