Xess
Xess is a programmable spreadsheet technology for X-Windows that provides a
full complement of spreadsheet functions, graphs and other intuitive
features. It includes a flexible, platform-independent API toolkit
allowing customization and extension of the spreadsheet environment. XESS
incorporates unique client/server functionality enabling distributed and
shared spreadsheet models - In a real time environment the primary XESS
spreadsheet can be receiving and analyzing information while serving views
or subsets of information to other machines running XESS on the network.
XESS Standard Edition includes:
- Full range of spreadsheet functions for financial, statistical, and scientific analysis
- 3-D workbooks with up to 1024 columns, 99,999 rows, 512 sheets
- Live graphs and charts with a single mouse click
- Compatible with Excel 97, Excel 2000, and Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets includingdynamic inter-workbook links
- Extensive searchable on-line help
- Nearly 700 pages of printed manuals
XessLite, for Linux only, is a rich subset of Xess designed specifically to
meet the needs of end-user personal computing. XessLite, while lacking the
API developers toolkit, still offers the individual spreadsheet user a powerful
personal productivity tool. Both Xess and XessLite work well for those
companies who might have a large investment in Lotus and Excel - Xess and
XessLite support both WK and XLS file formats.
