SimGL

SimGL is a graphics library that provides functionality similar to a subset of OpenGL.

SimGL stands for "Simulation Graphics Library" and is intended for realtime 3D developers that want to develop (or run) OpenGL applications on Quantum3D professional series systems (Heavy Metal Iron, Heavy Metal Mercury) or Quantum3D graphics accelerator cards (Obsidian2 200SBi, Voodoo3).

Unlike most OpenGL driver implementations, which are generally designed for CAD/CAM and full OpenGL compliance without an emphasis on performance, SimGL is targeted specifically at Glide2 and Glide3 hardware users targeting realtime visual simulation and training projects using the OpenGL API for development. These demanding realtime markets require update rates between 30 and 60 frames per second, which are often not achievable when using standard OpenGL drivers.
