Alpha Shapes Visualization Software Alpha Shapes is based on efficient, discrete mathematics which determine exact relationships between points, shapes, and spaces. The software reconstructs surface and volume for a given point cloud. Alpha shapes generates a family of shapes according to the selected alpha parameter. It also computes metric properties of a selected shape, such as, volume, surface area, etc. A unique feature of alpha shapes is that it computes empty spaces around a shape, such as, voids and pockets. The 3D alpha shapes software consists of four programs: Delcx --- 3D (weighted) Delaunay complex Mkalf --- 3D alpha shape file and data structure Alvis --- 3D alpha shape visualizer Volbl --- Measuring union of balls and voids
