SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy)

xscanimage is a scanner frontend that can run either in standalone mode or as a GIMP extension. When run under GIMP, it attaches itself to the Xtns->Acquire Image menu entry. xscanimage uses the SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) interface to access the image acquisition hardware, so any scanner supported by SANE is supported by xscanimage (the list of SANE supported devices currently includes Mustek, HP, and UMAX flatbed scanners, Connectix color QuickCams, and a pseudo-backend useful for testing that reads PNM files).
