NetCDF
NetCDF (Network Common Data Form) is a data model for array-oriented scientific data access, a package of freely available software that implements the data model, and a machine-independent data format. NetCDF supports the creation, manipulation, and sharing of scientific data sets that are self-describing, portable, directly accessible, and appendable. Interfaces are supported for use from C, Fortran, C++, and perl, and a Java implementation. A perl extension is available and known as NetCDFPerl, and a python language interface to the NetCDF can be found at http://snow.cit.cornell.edu/noon/ncmodule.html
