Epilogue.

When my studies as an amateur began on SNe, there were barely 600 events
catalogued in various SN lists over the past 90 years. In only 12 short
years the number has increased to well over 1,000 events, Incidentally, at
the moment of this writing I have just received word that The Rev. Evans
has discovered his 32nd. SNe, along with a Japanese amateur....

In those 12 years systematic SNe searches have increased almost four-fold.
There has been an intensified initiative by the professional and amateur
community to locate and study these "guest-stars". I have been accessing
the professional literature, and notice, that almost every issue has an
article regarding some information or research on these objects...I only
hope the trend continues, and we are able to truly study these phenomena
to the fullest to gain a difinitive understanding of them.

This Virgo Project was originally begun in the Spring of 1989 (See
_Starburst_, #20, "Special Edition)("Starburst" was the newsletter of
SUNSEARCH, a small pioneering group of amateurs involved in a systematic
search for SNe). With one thing or another, I have finally updated and
rewritten most of the information within this project. This effort was to
coincide with the publication of Manuel Lopez Alvarez's: "Photographic
Atlas For SNe Search, Vol 2" (1990)...remember folks, at this point in
time, this WAS one of the only comprehensive photographic references
compiled just for searching for these enigmatic objects that was available
to the masses. Thus, I respectfully dedicate this project to Manuel, who
laboured hard and conscientiously on a subject, that once it gets into
"your blood"....sticks with you a long, long time.....Good Hunting!

Finally Completed: April 13, 1996
