In this program there will be no charts in which to compare starfields or
conduct magnitude comparison star photometry. The latter information will
hopefully be made available once an event has been sanctioned by the IAU
as being a bonifide event.
The information of each galaxy in the program will be presented in tabular
form.
Reference photo's from which to conduct starfield comparisons once a
suspect SN has been noted can be compared within the following reference
sources:
Deep Sky CCD Atlas: North and South
by John C. Vickers
Back River Observatory

Or more detailed reference sources can be obtained by accessing:
A description of each service can be obtained by accessing an article in
the quarterly magazine "Amateur Astronomy", #9 (Spring, 1996) published by
Tectron, 2111 Whitfield Park Ave., Sarasota, FL., 34243 (aatclark@aol.com)
by: Lew Haberly (pgs. 11-12).
NOTE: The Astronomical Society of the Pacific has just come out with a
further scaled down version of the Digitized Sky Survey that is currently
available (10X version). This version is a 100X reduction of the original
P.O.S.S., and comes on 8-CD-ROM diskettes. The price is about $300 US.
I do not know if this product will be of any use in comparing suspect SNe
against galactic starfields (ie.quality, clarity of the surrounding
areas, etc.). Perhaps an evaluation can be made, and reported by some.
