St.Petersburg is the second capital of Russia in 650 km North-West of Moscow (8 hours by train or less than 3 hours flight from most parts of Europe). A one-week program includes visits to the Institute of Applied Astronomy RAS and to the new 32m radio Telescope in Svetloe as well as other entertainments.
A shorter tour is also possible.

The Institute of Applied Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences was founded in 1987 for studies of new methods in astrometry, geodynamics and for realization of the national astronomical projects, such as construction of the very long baseline radiointerferometric network "QUASAR".
At present IAA RAS is one of the leading institutesin the field of astrometry, geodynamics, celestial mechanics and fundamental coordinate and time service.
The radioastronomical observatory "Svetloe" was put into operation in 1997 at about 100 km North-West of St. Petersburg. The way to Svetloe takes about 1.5 hour by car and pass through picturesque valleys of Karelia.
Observatory "Svetloe" hosts full-steering radiotelescope. The telescope is equipped with multi-bands high-sensitivity receivers of centimeter wavelegth range and all necessary systems for radiointerferometric and radioastronomical observations.
Excursion to Svetloe takes about 6 hours (lunch included)
price 20-25 US$ (per person).
You can visit the famous Hermitage museum, Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac Cathedral, Cathedral of Saviour on Spilt Blood, the State Russian Museum, Mikhailovsky Castle and other well-known palaces and museums of St. Petersburg. The tour includes visiting the Imperial Residences in Peterhof, Pushkin and Pavlovsk as well as the boat trip on rivers and channels. May - June is the best tourist season in the city, the season of "white nights" of Saint Petersburg.

The hotel reservation for JENAM-2000 participants can be made (see Appendix 2). The reservation should be done before April 15, 2000. The transportation from airport/station to the hotel will be provided
The scientific and professional excursions can be organized to Pulkovo observatory, Ioffe Physical Institute, St.Petersburg State University, University Astronomical Observatory and other St.Petersburg scientific institutions as well.
