The conference "Astronomy of ancient civilizations" associated to JENAM-2000 (jointly with the 8th Annual Conference of SEAC will be held on May 23-28, 2000 in Moscow. The basic topics of the conference will comprise a range of problems of archaeoastronomy, ethnoastronomy as well as other diversified fields of research relevant to the concept of astronomy in the context of the history of the culture of the ancient civilizations. In addition investigation dealing with the problem of existence, survival and the world outlook of the ancient societies will be treated.

The Symposium Organizing Committee thanks all the colleagues who have already sent in their applications. All the potential participants in the Symposium whether pre-registered or not, should register online (http://www.inasan.rssi.ru/INASAN/JENAM) or fill in the registration forms (see 2nd Announcement) and return them to the Organizing Committee BEFORE MARCH 15 to the address: eaas@sai.msu.ru
The colleagues planning to participate IN BOTH the SYMPOSIUM AND JENAM2000 should register online (http://www.inasan.rssi.ru/INASAN/JENAM) and submit the registration fee as the Meeting participant.
Tentative participate in the SYMPOSIUM ONLY MUST NOT fill in the Payment Form NOR TRANSFER THEIR ORGANIZATION FEE, but submit it (half the size of that for JENAM2000) by cash at the registration desk.
If financial assistance is necessary, please, fill in Financial Support Form.
Rooms have been reserved in the hotels listed in the 2nd Announcement. All the hotels are reachable by public transportation from the Moscow University within 30 minutes. The map is available through the conference Web pages. Participants willing to make use of this arrangement should fill in the Hotel Reservation form.
Please, list the facilities do you need for your presentation slide projector (24x36 mm), overhead, multimedia projector, other.
Abstracts (see the special form, option "Registration") of the contributions approved by the simposium SOC will be presented for publication in JENAM2000 Abstract Book and an extended version of the Abstract (of the size of 1 page typed at double spacing) should be sent by e-mail to the Organizing Committee BY MARCH 15. After March 15, the SOC will compose the symposium preliminary program which will be forwarded to all the participants.
As not all the participants are equally well used to giving/listening talks in both English and Russian the conference hall will be equipped with two overheads so that the main principles of the contributions and figure captions be presented in both English and Russian. Participants are advised to prepare the correspondent texts on transparent (in large print, 10-12 lines per page). In exceptional cases the symposium LOC can aid the contributors unable for one reason or another to prepare Russian or English version of the text.
