The new table nsv_pos.dat provides positional information based on our identifications with major astrometric catalogs,
on published data, or on our new measurements.
The new version of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS4.2) revised taking into account the new data accumulated since the 4th GCVS edition for the constellations:
Auriga, and Bootis The new version of the GCVS  !
The new table nsv_pos.dat provides positional information based on our identifications with major astrometric catalogs,
on published data, or on our new measurements.
The new version of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS4.2) revised taking into account the new data accumulated since the 4th GCVS edition for three constellations:
Andromeda, Aquarius, and Aries The new version of the GCVS  !
The fourth volume of the revised version 1.4 of
the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS) contains cross-identification
tables. The tables contain all GCVS (including extragalactic variables from
vol.V), NSV (New catalogue of Suspected Variable stars) and Supplement to
the NSV stars as well as stars from the name-lists of variable stars nos. 67
- 77; it also makes it possible to find out identifications between the GCVS
and the NSV catalogue.
The differences between the computer-readable
version 1.3 and 1.4 of vol. IV are the following :
Stars of the 77th name-list of variable stars
have been added.
All necessary corrections found during 1 year
elapsed since the publication of the version 1.3 have been added.
We present a new electronic version of the second
volume of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS), fourth edition,
which contains data on 13480 variable stars in Cygnus - Orion. This version
incorporates the name lists of variable stars from no.67 to no.76 for the same
constellations. The main distinctive feature of the new version is that it
provides improved equatorial J2000.0 coordinates for 13446 stars (including
those for 5052 stars corrected for proper motions). These are based on
identifications with positional catalogs using finding charts and on our new
measurements.
We present the next regular Name-List of
variable stars containing information on 1152 variable stars recently
designated in the system of the General Catalogue of Variable
Stars.
The fourth volume of the revised version 1.3
of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS) contains
cross-identification tables. The tables contain all GCVS (including
extragalactic variables from vol.V), NSV (New catalogue of Suspected
Variable stars) and Supplement to the NSV stars as well as stars from the
name-lists of variable stars nos. 67 - 76; it also makes it possible to
find out identifications between the GCVS and the NSV catalogue.
The differences between the computer-readable
version 1.2 and 1.3 of vol. IV are the following :
Stars of the 75th and 76th name-lists of
variable stars have been added.
The cross-identification tables now
additionally include the lists of Hipparcos (Hip) variable stars.
All necessary corrections found during 3
years elapsed since the publication of the version 1.2 have been added.
We present a new electronic version of the first
volume of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS), fourth edition,
which contains data on 10558 variable stars in Andromeda - Crux . This
version incorporates the name lists of variable stars from no.67 to no.76
for the same constellations. The main distinctive feature of the new version
is that it provides improved equatorial J2000.0 coordinates for 10351 stars
(including those for 4592 stars corrected for proper motions). These are
based on identifications with positional catalogs using finding charts and
on our new measurements.
The version also includes a file of remarks to
the first GCVS volume and a preliminary version of the file of bibliographic
references to the entire fourth edition of the GCVS. Apart from a complete
update of the positional information, the new version incorporates all the
other corrections that were found to be necessary after the first GCVS
volume was published (1985).
The difference between the version January
2001 and March 2002 consists in the following:
For 6593 stars of the GCVS Volume II (Cygnus
- Orion), we have already introduced corrected, more accurate coordinates.
The current version of the coordinates for these stars is of a preliminary
nature, and we would be grateful for remarks and corrections.
All necessary corrections found during this
period have been added.
We present a new version of the improved
equtarial positions J2000 for variable stars from I Volum GCVS in the
constellations of Andromeda - Crux (10329 stars).
All necessary corrections found during this
period have been added.
November 22, 2001
There is the preliminary version of the cross-identifications GCVS and Hipparcos catalog. Query form for GCVSJuly, 9, 2001
We present the next regular Name-List of
variable stars containing information on 1406 variable stars recently
designated in the system of the General Catalogue of Variable
Stars.
We present a preliminary version of the
improved equtarial positions J2000 for variable stars from GCVS in the
constellations of Cassiopeia - Crux (3488 stars) and for 586 stars from
NSV.
We present the next regular Name-List of
variable stars containing information on 916 variable stars recently
designated in the system of the General Catalogue of Variable
Stars.
The fourth volume of the revised version 1.2
of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS) contains
cross-identification tables. The tables contain all GCVS (including
extragalactic variables from vol.V), NSV (New catalogue of Suspected
Variable stars) and Supplement to the NSV stars as well as stars from the
name-lists of variable stars nos. 67 - 74; it also makes it possible to
find out identifications between the GCVS and the NSV catalogue.
The differences between the computer-readable
version 1.1 and 1.2 of vol. IV are the following :
Stars of the 73th and 74th name-lists of
variable stars and stars of the Supplement to the NSV have been
added.
The difference between the versions December 1998
and March 1999 consists in the
following:
All necessary corrections found during this
period have been added (more then 80 corrections).
In the course of the preparation of a new
GCVS 4.2 version we improve coordinates for many GCVS variables, including
those from the Name-lists. Please note that some stars of the NSVS
catalogue may be found identical to GCVS stars, with their new positions.
GCVS identifications are presented in the last column of the file
nsvs.dat.
Notice the data of the NSVS version you use!
The stars NSV 17813-15 in the current version
are not the same as NSV 17813-15 in the December version.
We are grateful to GCVS users who inform us
about errors revealed in our catalogues.
We selected Hipparcos variables satisfying
GCVS criteria and designated 3157 objects as GCVS stars. The 74th
Name-list is the largest Name-list in the history of the
GCVS.
All necessary corrections found during this
period have been added.
April 13, 1998
The improved equatorial positions (B1950, J2000) for variable stars
in the constellations of Antlia and Apus have been added. These positions
have been incorporated in the present data set.
Several corrections to the 73rd Name-list of Variable Stars Kazarovets
E.V., Samus N.N., IBVS No.4471, 1997:
The variable star V 390 Lac is actually NL Lac, this was not revealed
because of the then-adopted coordinates for NL Lac being seriously in
error. Instead "V 353 Pup =
NSV 03431, not 03731"
should be "V 353 Pup = NSV 03731,
not 03431". < /EM >
We have started preparation of an electronic release GCVS 4.2 which
will contain improved light elements, classifications etc. along with sufficiently
accurate positional information. The first approach to this project has
resulted in improved equatorial positions (B1950, J2000) for variable stars
in the constellation of Andromeda, including the stars from the GCVS proper
plus the stars from the subsequent Name-lists, with a new standard of positional
accuracy, to 1 second of arc. These positions have been incorporated in
the present data set.
