VIII General Meeting of the Eurasian Astronomical Society
and International Symposium
"Astronomy 2005 - Actual State and Prospect"

2nd Announcement

Dear colleagues,

We have received many responses from Russia as well as from CIS, Baltic and other countries to our First Announcement. We are pleased with the interest awakened by the topics of our Symposium.

Presently the 8th EAAS General meeting and Attached Symposium internet-site is opened. You may register as participant and submit your contribution abstract(s) on-line at the address:

http://helios.izmiran.rssi.ru/EAAS/eng/cong2005/congress.htm .
The colleagues which have already registered by e-mail must not register again on-line. The list of registered participants is exposed on the web-site and will be regularly updated. To easy and prompt the process of the Abstracts book preparation the colleagues that have already submitted their contribution abstracts by e-mail are ask to resubmit them on-line.

All the colleagues who have not still registered are asked to register and present the contribution abstracts on-line to simplify considerably the work of the Organizing Committee. But of course, the "security option" of sending the material by e-mail does remain.

The abstracts of the contributions adopted into the program will be published in a special Abstracts book by the opening of the Symposium.

The abstract size must not exceed 1200 characters. The text beyond that size will be cut away automatically. The abstracts adopted by the Scientific Organizing Committee (its first meeting is planned for one of the last days of March) will be exposed on the Symposium web-site. Abstracts submitted after the Committee first meeting, will be exposed on the site after having been adopted into the Symposium program.

Please, do not forget to indicate what demonstration facilities (overhead, multimedia projector, slight projector, etc.) you will need.

The deadline for abstract submission is April 18, 2005. The material presented after that day will not be included into the Abstracts book nor in the printed version of the program.

The Symposium working languages are Russian and English.

We hope to be able to publish the Symposium proceedings. On a later date we shall circulated additional information on the topic.

Unfortunately we did not receive the much hoped-for grant from the INTAS. Therefore our possibilities of financial support are very limited.

We are obliged to settle 300 rubles registration fee for all the participants. Besides, we ask herewith the Society members who are behind in membership fees should pay the fees for at least the two latest years (the members' from NIS and Baltic countries fee is 100 rub/year; members from all the other countries' fee is $30).

The program for the plenary sessions is given in the 1st Announcement and exposed on the Symposium web-site.

In addition, in the frame of the plenary session program a special session devoted to the memory of late Prof.Vitaly G. Gorbatsky, one of the Society first Co-chairmen, will be held the day of the Symposium opening.

The list of the Symposium sections is not in general modified, but in the frame of the Symposium scientific program a special session devoted to the memory of the Moscow astronomer Felix A.Tsitsin is to be held on June 1, 2005 (the session conveners are: Prof. A.Rastorguev and Dr.V.Sementsov).

Detailed hotel information will be given in the 3rd Announcement and exposed on the web site. Presently we are negotiating possibilities of accommodating the participants in MSU hostel rooms at about $12-20 per person per night.
